To send a destination to the car, just select “MMI connect” from the list of directions apps. The Audi MMI connect app automatically launches and displays the destination. Tap “Send” or drag the destination upwards onto the car image. Then the destination is automatically transferred to your car dashboard.

You can even save one tap by selecting “MMI connect” as your preferred directions app by tapping the bookmark icon and selecting the app. Then you just need to long-tap the directions button to transfer the destination to Audi MMI connect.

• Mountaineers can look at the highest mountains of the world (in Nepal, Tanzania, Argentina, Russia)
• skiers can check the slopes in Norway and Sweden,
• sport fans can peek inside the world cup stadiums of South Africa and Poland/Ukraine,
• hikers can explore the Grand Canyon,
• those preferring cold temperatures can visit a village in Nunavut, Canada,
• nature lovers can go on safari in Botswana’s national parks and
• tourists can virtually travel to the best spots in the Netherlands, Lithuania, Estonia, Croatia and Brazil!

You don’t need to update your current version of Street View. Just open it and search for the country.
And no, this is not an April Fools’ joke!

Further changes:

• Added iWay integration for directions
• When searching for contacts with multiple addresses, the current address is highlighted in blue when opening the details
• Added a loading progress bar in the builtin homepage viewer
• FAQ are now displayed inside the app

Another small feature we added: Sometimes, the title label in panorama mode covers an important part of the picture. Now you can just tap on it and it shrinks to a small pin. Tap again and you’ll see the title label again.

We also fixed the following issues:

• Spinning wheel when launched from Maps is fixed
• Accidental zooming is prevented when quickly tapping the panorama arrows
• Other bug fixes and small improvements

When talking to users and journalists, there’s a common question:

Why should I buy Street View instead of the free Google Maps app?

While we usually don’t talk about competing apps, I’d like to make an exception this time because it’s such a common question.

Five reasons:

1. Available for iPad
   Street View is a universal app that runs both on iPhone and iPad. Google Maps is only available for iPhone.
   
2. Mini Map
   When you’re stepping through a panorama, you easily get lost. Street View’s mini map in the corner always displays the current location, the viewing direction and the field of view.
   
3. Better resolution
   Compare for yourself. Street View allows to zoom-in much closer and to decipher the details whereas in Google Maps you just see muddy pixels:

   When launching Street View from Maps, it displays the street panorama right away and lets you return to Maps with a simple tap on the back button.

Please don’t get me wrong: The Google Maps app is great in many ways. Just think twice if street panoramas are important for you: A specialized app might be the better choice.

Directions

We’ve integrated directions right within the app. Just select a pin and tap the directions button in the toolbar. You can choose from car, bike or pedestrian routing. The route, sometimes with alternatives, is displayed on the map or in textual form. You can also share the directions via email with your friends. Directions are automatically recalculated if you’re leaving the route.

Of course, the integrated directions don’t replace but complement the much beloved feature of working with third party navigation apps. Where To? has been the first app back in 2009 to introduce support for external navigation apps and with Where To? 6.0 we’re taking this to a new level. We doubled the number of supported apps to 37. This doesn’t even include the numerous country specific versions of apps like Navigon and TomTom. To easier select the suitable app, we’ve revamped the selection browser. It shows the installed apps on top and compatible apps from the App Store below. The rating and price is shown as well. If you’re familiar with the third party app selection in Maps app, you’ll feel at home immediately.

Among the newly added apps are much requested apps like Garmin, CoPilot Live and Skobbler as well as a huge selection of public transport apps for various cities and countries all over the world:

Connection with Audi

If you’re the owner of a new Audi A3 introduced last month, you can even send your destinations to the car navigation system: Select your destination conveniently in Where To?, send it to your Audi via the Audi MMI connect app (currently available in Germany, only), turn the key and start driving!

Launch from Maps

We’ve also revamped our integration with Maps app. When launched from Maps, the directions are displayed immediately. This is especially useful for bike directions since Maps doesn’t offer this. The destination’s map bubble is shown if Where To? finds the business location – so you can compare details such as reviews (including from Google users), dinner menus and more. Otherwise you can add the destination as a contact. The share menu allows to share directions via email or the clipboard, launch other navigation apps (there are a fair number of apps that can’t be launched from Maps, so Where To? can act as a gateway) or search at the destination.
